Children's Treatment Centre (CTC) Implementation Task Force
PRIMARY RECOMMENDATIONS
"The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care establish a children's treatment centre to meet the
identified needs of children who require rehabilitation services. The committee supports the
establishment of a children's treatment centre on the grounds of the new health care campus.The new entity will provide a distinct identifiable focal point for the:
- Consolidation of children's rehabilitation services into a centralized site in North Bay with
decentralized sites throughout the District;
- Recruitment, retention and ongoing professional development of a wide variety of pediatric
trained health human resources;
- Required milieu for parent support and education activities; and
- The fundraising capacity of the District with respect to children with rehabilitation needs."
This report was fully endorsed by the NSDHC and forwarded to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
In response to this report, the Council received correspondence from the Honourable Elizabeth Witmer
(the former Minister of Health and Long-Term Care) reiterating support in principle to establish a children's
treatment centre.
