Above is Judy
Rebick, activist, author of Imagine Democracy (Stoddart),
and publisher of Rabble.ca.
Judy was in town as keynote speaker at the Sudbury Social Planning
Council's annual general meeting
and graciously accepted an invitation to speak at the Rally organized
by the
Ontario Common Front Sudbury in front of the Provincial Building in Sudbury.
Judy writes columns in Elm Street Magazine and on CBC Online and regular
commentaries
in the Ottawa Citizen. Judy is a popular speaker on issues of concern
to women and politics in general.
Probably best known to Canadians as the President of the National Action
Committee (NAC) on the Status of Women
from 1990 to 1993, Judy has been a long time social activist in the women's
movement and the pro-choice movement.
In
May 2002, Judy was named the first CAW-Sam Gindin Chair in Social Justice
and Democracy at Ryerson University.
