Information on the current legal/regulatory state of these issues in theory and practice will be collected in 21 participating countries, including Canada. The data collected will form the basis of national reports, as well as comparative regional reports, which will outline recent reforms and identify issues that require further attention from national governments and multilateral bodies. The Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL) is the Canadian Chair of the project, which is being managed by five regional partners and is in progress in 21 countries. The funders for this three-year project include the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Inter-American Development Bank and the Comunidad Andina de Formento. Laurie Cole, the Canadian Chair has contacted DAWN (DisAbled Women's Network) as part of a select group of individuals/organizations to request that we share our expertise and contribute to the project by completing a questionnaire. (Follow this link) DAWN will be collating
responses from women with disAbilities on the current state of access
to justice and judicial independence in Canada. The questionnaire takes
approximately 1 hour to complete, and can be done via e-mail. The deadline for responses is Monday, September 29th at 4:30 pm
Below is the contact information for Laurie Cole of FOCAL should you have any questions.
