CISL is
also used to develop an extensive and ongoing CONFIDENTIAL database
of information about individuals with acquired brain injury and their
caregivers. A five-page questionnaire has been designed to collect demographic
data as well as information about assessments of activity limitations,
community integration, service use and need, and caregiver stress levels.
The database
developed from this information provides useful statistics. For example,
CISL can estimate the number and ratio of individuals with severe,
moderate or mild levels of impairment, the unemployment rate among
individuals with acquired brain injury and the proportion of these
individuals who use or need various services.
Annual follow-up
is crucial to determine factors associated with the improved or diminished
life style of individuals who are affected by injury to the brain.
