The
OBIA Centre for Research on Brain Injury is committed to improving
life for those who live with the effects of brain injury through
research and education. Financial contributions from individuals,
groups and corporations can be directed toward four major areas
of activity:
Centre
for Research on Community Integration (CRCI)
The
current research priorities of CRCI are:
Research
on the incidence, prevalence and methods of preventing brain
injury. Such research is critical to government planning
bodies and rehabilitation programs.
Research
on the relationship of impairment, disability and individual
family characteristics on the ability to successfully become
integrated into the community. This research is important
to develop a better understanding of the service needs of
individuals and families.
Research
on the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs and other
services.
Centre
for Training and Education (CTE)
Training
and educational activities of the Centre are:
To
provide education and training for staff, Executive Directors
and Board Members of support groups.
To
provide education and training for staff in rehabilitation
programs through a certificate program.
Training
manuals will be prepared as part of this activity.
