Device Manager - Print It Out Just In Case

Question:
"I use Windows 98 as my operating system. Can you tell me if there is any way of backing up information about my computer programs so that if I have another major computer crash, I would have some way of getting everything back and running just the way it used to."

Answer:

It is a really good idea to have an updated printout of your computer's hardware settings stored safely with your backup copies.

Here's how you would go about printing out a copy of same.

Select the My Computer icon from your desktop.

Then select [Properties] from the pop-up menu that appears.

From the System Properties dialog box make sure that the [Device Manager] tab at the top of the dialog box is selected.

This is where all of your hardware devices are listed in a tree structure similar to that of Windows Explorer.

Select <Print> to be able to generate a hard copy of these hardware settings for reference at a later date.

You will be given a choice of a "System Summary" report or a more detailed "All devices and system summary" report.
