Question: "Could you please tell me how I go about printing only what
I want from a page? I mean when there is a whole page on my screen how
do I print only about half of it without printing the whole page?"
Answer:
I've been asked this question, in one form or another many times, and
to be truthful, I'd always handled the problem by copying what I wanted
onto a blank Word document and then printing it.
This was the best
I could think of, and indeed, the best advice I could get from the computer
technicians I'd asked. As I stared at the window recently though,
I had a sudden revelation (I feel really sheepish too - the answer was
right in front of me the whole time). Whether you're trying to print
from Word, a web page or an email, this works.
First of all, you
need to highlight the selection you want to print. Position your mouse
pointer at the beginning of the selection you want, and hold down the
left mouse button. Keep holding down the button and drag the pointer
to the end of your selection. Now release the button. The area you dragged
the mouse over will be highlighted.
Now open the <File>
pull-down window at the top left of the screen, and single-click on
. Don't click on any of the various toolbar buttons:
they're shortcuts that assume you want to print the entire document.
Go through the menu instead.
The <Print>
window opens. In the section there's an option marked
. Single-click this option and then single-click . The
area you highlighted will now be printed.
Note that, with
emails, the sender's information will also be printed, and that with
websites, the URL will automatically be printed too.
