Info, Tips, FAQs How to Use WinZip
Open Winzip (make sure you select Classic style.) NOTE: If you don't have Winzip, try downloading an evaluation copy from the WinZip site at http://winzip.com Point to and Click on File (from the main pull-down menu - a submenu appears on screen) Point to and Click on New (you will see the following menu appear on your screen) Give the new archive file a name like Pictures1.zip NOTE: Be sure to include the .(dot) and Zip for the extension. Point to and Click on Ok. (your screen will turn back to the classic screen) Point to and click on the Add icon button When you click on the Add icon, another window will open and here you can select all the files you want to have zipped. Select the ones you want (if you are going to accept the files in exact order -- (one right after the other) hold down the shift key and click on the first file in the continuous group - then click on the last file and all the files will be highlighted in between your start and end point - as shown below:) Notice that all the files are selected in a continuous loop. If, however, you want to select only certain files and they do not appear in a continuous stream, hold down the control key [Ctrl] as you click each of the non-continuous files. Then ... Point to and Click on Add (you will be returned to the classic menu screen) To Exit the program.... do the following: Point to and click back on File (from the main pull-down menu -- a submenu will appear) Point to and click on Close Archive. Voila -- that's it.. Now if you are zipping files to a floppy and the files are too large for the disk, don't worry, Winzip will prompt you to add additional disks.
When you want to remove a file from a zipped file, do the following: Select the files you want. Point to and Click on Extract. Then tell Winzip where you want to extract the files to (a subdirectory, zip disk or whatever) and it will do it for you.
