Virus Alert - February 17, 2004

A new computer worm is spreading rapidly via e-mail. Symantec calls it Beagle.B, but it's also known as Bagle.B, Worm_Bagle.B, W32.Alua@mm and Tanx-A.

The infected file is sent as an "attachment" to e-mail messages. It may appear that the message is from a friend or family member (because the worm "spoofs" email messages, and pretends to be from people you know).

The usual advice applies: Do NOT click on an attached file that arrives by e-mail, even if the message appears to be from someone you know. (The only exception to this rule is when you expect a file to be sent to you.)
