How to Get Rid of the "Assistant" - MS Office

I personally despise the Office Assistant: that cheerful little paperclip that pops up in Word and Excel offering helpful advice when you don't want it. Perhaps I'm just cynical, but I find it distracting.

The Office Assistant can be turned off easily, and you can still access <Help> when you need to.

Using the right mouse button, single-click on the Office Assistant.

In the pop-up menu that appears, single-click on <Options> with the left mouse button.

The <Office Assistant> window opens.

Under the tab marked <Options> you'll find a little box marked <Use the Office Assistant>.

The box has a check mark in it. Single-click the box to remove the check mark, and then single-click on <OK> to exit the window.

The Office Assistant will be zapped out of existence.
