Secondly, DAWN
Ontario's Acting Chair, Barbara
Anello, a member of the Board since October 1998. We stopped counting
when Barbara hit the 1,000 volunteer hour mark co-ordinating projects,
attending consultations, responding to Women with disAbilities, and
continually redesigning, maintaining, and promoting this website for
DAWN Ontario to benefit Women with disAbilities.
Our added thanks to Barbara for her commitment to building an online
community for Women with disAbilities and initiating the DAWN Ontario
discussion list with 248 members currently.
One of our favourite "Barbara" quotes is this:
"Whatever
adversity life has challenged me with
has helped define who I am and as such, I am stronger for it."
We also
wish to acknowledge Tracy
Odell for developing the vision statement
adopted by the DAWN Ontario Board of Directors. Tracy is a woman
who was leagues ahead of the times and as such, she has been an inspiring
role model to other Women with disAbilities!
The DAWN Ontario Board will remain forever indebted to the Visonary
Women noted above for their invaluable contributions both to the organization
and to the movement of Women with disAbilities. It is through the efforts
of such dedicated individuals that the concerns relevant to Women with
disabilities have come to the forefront.
