  • McGuinty's Government has announced plans to dismantle Ontario Human Rights Commission and move to a 'direct access' model.

  • This means no more access to free investigation, mediation and legal representation through the Commission, forcing people to hire lawyers to represent them at the Tribunal.

  • This means bigger barriers for people whose rights have been violated.

  • We need a solution that improves human rights protection, not one that puts money in the hands of lawyers at the expense of most Ontarians.

  • We are calling for immediate public consultation before any legislation is tabled.
