Make Trade Fair
Cotton Pickin' Madness!

US cotton subsidies mean big bucks for big business in the US, but they spell ruin for millions of African cotton farmers. It doesn’t sound very fair does it? It isn’t - but now’s your chance to do something about it.

Email George Bush NOW and demand an end to unfair cotton subsidies: http://maketradefair.com/go/uscotton

In 2001, 10 US cotton giants received almost $17 million in government handouts
(Environmental Working Group Farms Subsidies Database 2001)

It’s thanks to such generous handouts that big US cotton farms are able to sell their cotton at rock bottom prices. They undercut millions of African cotton farmers who - without the benefit of million dollar handouts - simply can’t compete.

George Bush is planning a whistle stop tour of Africa at the beginning of July. African cotton farmers will be protesting, calling for an end to unfair US subsidies which are devastating their livelihoods.
