giants received almost $17 million in government handouts Its thanks to such generous handouts that big US cotton farms are able to sell their cotton at rock bottom prices. They undercut millions of African cotton farmers who - without the benefit of million dollar handouts - simply cant compete. George Bush is planning a whistle stop tour of Africa at the beginning of July. African cotton farmers will be protesting, calling for an end to unfair US subsidies which are devastating their livelihoods. Support
