When:   Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 2 pm

Place:   Committee Room 1, Toronto City Hall

The Honourable Jean Augustine, Secretary of State, will be guest speaker at a public forum Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Committee Room 1, Toronto City Hall.

The event is being sponsored by The Older Women's Network, an organization committed to act in support of justice, equality, dignity and respect for older women in Ontario.

Ms. Augustine, a Liberal M.P., responsible for Status of Women and Multiculturalism, will be evaluating Canada's progress in implementing the Beijing Platform for Action which we endorsed in 1995. The theme of the program will be "Where are we now? Eight years after Beijing: has anything been accomplished?"

The Platform for Action held many promises for women, yet the results of research projects conducted by the Older Women's Network reflect an ongoing lack of progress in women's rights. These results will be summarized by Thelma McGillivray, Chair of OWN.

There will be a question and answer period following the presentation. In lieu of admission, participants are invited to contribute a donation for the food banks.
