Since 1993, the Supreme Court of Canada has made two landmark decisions concerning the issues of Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, the Rodriguez and Latimer cases.

Robert Latimer murdered his daughter Tracy and is serving a life sentence with 10 years before eligibility for parole.
