I, like most Canadians, have lost faith in our current political system. All -- and I do mean All -- politicians are chronic liars and are only out for one thing: Numero Uno.
We teach our children not to lie while we are slathered daily with tactless and tasteless untruths. Not one of them has a moral compass; instead, that compass needle swings wildly in the political storm of the day.
Each will say anything for spin. Each will eagerly point their complicit fat finger at the other but The Buck Never Stops Anywhere, Anytime.
No one is accountable at the higher levels for their misdeeds, misjudgements or recklessness with taxpayer's money or peoples' lives.
Its systemic and Enronic.
The pearls of power corrupt each political party, getting it, keeping it and selling it to the highest bidder or friend and the taxpayer is to be satiated dangling on an empty purse string.
They all bemoan the lack of funds for our treasured institutions, our crumbling municipal and rural infrastructures and our very future.
Meanwhile the country languishes and slips inexorably into Third World Status with poorer water quality, higher levels of pollution, an exhausted and ill equipped military and mismanagement of resources.
In addition, an under-funded education system at all levels is what the children are expected to learn to love to learn in.
What type of citizenry can we expect to manifest from a system that does not fund its future?
Those desperate funds are siphoned off by one or another bureaucratic bungle, political patronage or criminal conspiracy.
Instead of vision, we are treated to baseness and disillusionment. Shame on all of them! Shames on all of us for letting them get away with it again!
